Mizuho Tsuchino

Welcome! I am an Associate Professor of Feminist International Relations in the Department of Education at Meisei University in Tokyo. Since 2023, I have been a visiting researcher at the Centre for Gender Research, University of Oslo.

I received my Ph.D. in Gender Studies from Ochanomizu University in 2014, which is known as a center of gender studies in Japan. During my Ph.D. from 2011 to 2013, I worked as a part-time secretary for a member of the House of Councillors (Senate), who was the first Minister of State for Gender Equality and Social Affairs in Japan.

Previously, I was a postdoc from 2014 to 2018 at Ochanomizu University, teaching at Kanagawa University, Rikkyo University, Otsuma Women's University, as well as Ochanomizu University. 

My research interests lie in conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) in Asia, especially the so-called "comfort women" issue, Women, Peace, and Security (WPS), gender issues and politics in Japan, Postcolonial feminism, and closely related fields.
