"High School VS University:
a Different Side"
High school and university are places of learning for students all over the world and the best academic places to find the title for the best job. Therefore, as institutions, there are differences in their culture and academic environment.
Firstly, high school and university have a difference in age and how the students maintain their academic performance. According to Khaneghahi and Siyasar (2022), high school students are adults between 15 and 17 years old and have three years to finish their studies. Their academic performance as teenagers is also in doubt, so the students still need a teacher role. Whereas in university, there are students of any age who have to graduate in the 7th semester, the students who keep their academic performance, such as doing a self-presentation or making a mind map, also need a little lecturer role.
Secondly, the coursework is also different. In high school, all of science is studied, but in university, there is a specialization and major selection. (Mateski & Arith, 2023) say that in high school, all of science is studied, and the students have to study many courses. But in university, the students have to choose their major for their future job, so they study some of the coursework as a major choice.
Lastly, there is the difference in attendance. In high school, attendance is mandatory, whereas the students must attend the class and check their attendance with the teacher. While in university, many students feel free to attend their classes because the lecturer is not at all checking their attendance. This is called optional attendance to adjust the students time. (Weston, 2024).
In conclusion, we can find the differences in high school and university academical environment such as academicak stage, curriculum or major selection, and in their attendance.
