In this era of globalization, science and technology are increasingly developing, especially in student behavior, such as the rise of violent video games. Violent video games have both negative and positive effects on students performance.

The first effect is that students have long-term effects on their psychology. According to the Association for Psychological Science (2011), many of them playing violent video games have psychological problems; students have mental health problems such as aggressive attitudes and rude behavior in real life.

The second effect of violent video games is that students have poor academic performance. Because students play violent video games too often, they don't have productive time to study for their academic performance, such as doing homework, studying their material, reading books, and having more positive thoughts. So that, in their academic environment, students can have poor academic performance and decrease their value of classroom activities. (Terry, 2018)

Next, the negative effect of violent video games is that students are desensitized to violence in their real world. (American Psychological Association, 2018) says students who play violent video games have anxiety and mental health issues but also tend to have an empathy attitude if in their environment violence happens. Many of them don't help that, but it is a happy action for them.

On the other hand, violent video games have a positive side. Students can relieve stress by playing violent video games. (Ramo, 2021) say that playing violent video games if it is not too often and if it is under parents attention can relieve their stress. Students have little time to study, which can affect their mental health, especially male students. 

To conclude, violent video games can cause bad things for students, such as long-term psychological effects, poor academic performance, and desensitization to violence in their real lives. However, playing violent video games can relieve stress for students. My advice is not to play violent video games too often, as there will be more negative effects.
