About Me
Davin Wallace is an associate professor in the Division of Marine Science in the School of Ocean Science and Engineering at the University of Southern Mississippi located at Stennis Space Center, where he has been since 2013. Wallce earned his Ph.D. in in Earth Science from Rice University under the advisement of Dr. John B. Anderson. Majority of my post-grad degree, Master's of Science Teaching, was under Davin Wallace while he was at Rice University.
In 2012, Wallace was a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow jointly at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Davin earned a B.S. degree cum laude from Tulane University, with a double major in Geology and German.
Wallace’s research interests include coastal geology, sedimentology, coastal hazards, and response of environments to global change, working in such areas as the Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda, and the Philippines. He combines field observations, lab measurements, and numerical modeling in his work. He's contributed to many publications, see Google Scholar and Research Gate.
When I began my studies at Rice, it was under Alison Henning. Shortly after starting the program, she received a well-paying offer from the energy industry. Davin Wallace would step up to oversee the program, while finishing up his own PHD.
During this time, I participated in field work near Wyatt Chapel Cemetery near Prairie View Tx, on Galveston Island, and in the Texas City Coastal Prairie Preserve.
Davin Wallace now works at the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as with GenSea program, which includes a variety of outreach activities
