Why is reading important?
Reading is important for all of us, but most importantly our children. Reading is the foundation for many concepts. When a child learns to read they are also learning to spell, comprehend, decode, vocabulary, and more. The more we are reading the more information we obtain. Reading is very important for the learning process which is why we are taught young. Check out the website for more on why it is important to read.
Why is good literature important?
Good literature is important because when our students are collecting and gathering information we want to make sure the information is correct. When looking at children's literature specifically we want to make sure that they are not misrepresenting something or showing any bias or discrimination. Some of my favorite books when I was younger are now no longer appropriate for students at this time period. Here are a couple of websites on what to look for when choosing good literature.
