Innovative Leader when Teaching during a Global Pandemic
Because I am currently student teaching during the coronavirus pandemic, I have had to pre-record videos of myself playing and teaching the recorder to play for my third grade students in class. The school district I am student teaching in, Clarkstown Central School District, is offering both hybrid and remote teaching options for the students at this time. The students in school use recorder substitutes, like pencils or highlighters, to practice fingerings while in school and rewatch the video when they go home to practice their skills on their recorders. The students at home play along on their recorders while in the Google Meet to the video. This experience has allowed me to practice my iMovie skills and work on my scaffolding techniques while teaching.
