About Me

About my Student Teaching in KY:

Hello! My name is Madison Rogers, and I am a senior at Western Kentucky University. Like previously mentioned, I am studying Elementary Education, and I will graduate on December 14, 2019. I am currently student teaching at Indian Hills Elementary in Hopkinsville, KY. I have LOVED my student teaching placements at this school. Both of my cooperating teachers have been wonderful, and I have learned so much from them. My first placement was in 1st grade math. I spent 7 weeks with these little first graders, and I loved every single one of them. Each student holds a special place in my heart, and I love seeing them in the hallways. Currently, I am in 5th grade math. Whew, what a change. I have adjusted well, and these 5th graders are so special to me. I enjoy talking sports and football with the sport fans. At the same time, I enjoy talking about shopping and hearing about the video games they played the night before. Developing relationships with each and every student is so important. I want them to know that I value them, but I also have high expectations for them inside and outside of the classroom.

I am so excited to continue my student teaching journey abroad in Spain. I am so excited to see what school is like in another country. Being able to attain a different aspect on teaching from someone across the world is a one in a lifetime opportunity. I will take the experiences, knowledge, and advice given from this placement and apply it to my classroom. I will learn so much from the teachers and students. This opportunity is one that I will cherish forever.
