Recommended Children's Literature:
Children's Literature is one of my favorite topics to discuss with Parents and my students. I have listed below reasons why reading and good literature is important.
As teachers, we share good literature with each other, so we can introduce new and fun forms of literature to our class.
If you as a parent/guardian have any suggestions or would even like to donate to our class library, please send me an email: lacie.butler@smail.astate.edu
I find many good recommendations on the Scholastic website. Click HERE to visit the Scholastic website.
You are able to search for books based off of grade, age, fiction, non-fiction, series, characters.
They even have educational resources to refer too.
When you click on a book, Scholastic will give you a run down of everything you need to know. For instance, a description of the book, the format of the book, the appropriate grade, age, and reading levels, how many pages, and the publisher.
Why is reading important:
Reading helps develop higher levels of focus.
Reading gets students minds working across different areas.
Tomie dePaola, author and illustrator of over 200 children's books, once said, “Reading is important, because if you can read, you can learn anything about everything and everything about anything.”
Why is good literature important:
Good literature exercises the imagination of our students.
Good literature allows students to take a step back in time and allow them to see time before them.
Good literature can give our students a better understanding of culture and to have a greater appreciation of it.
