This week was BUSY! We learned so much :) So much to learn, so little time! We are thankful for the time we have in the classroom with your kiddos. They really are sponges for knowledge and are doing so great!

We loved Is Your Mama a Llama!! It was a HIT.
Things you can do at home/what our week looked like:
LETTERLAND: This is our ELA curriculum. The videos are available on YouTube. Score! We are working our way through what is referred to as "fast-track". We are going through all of the letters and then we will go back to focus on each letter specifically. Follow this link and explore more like it at: Letterland Link
Big Ideas Learning is our curriculum for Math. We have absolutely taken a dive into this curriculum! You can work at home dealing with counting 0-10. We are working on "showing on many" by using a five frame. There are 6 five frames at the top of this text. The top one shows 0, the one below shows 1, the one below that shows 2, the one below that shows 3, the one below that shows 4, and lastly the one below that shows 5. We worked with counters, giving each child their individual set for their seatwork. The children were able to practice coming up to the ClearTouch (the technology in our classroom) to practice showing "how many". The kids are doing so well continuing to adjust to school and a new norm. Proud of them!!!! BIG smiles from Miss Ivey.
Science/Social Studies: Our big focus in Science this week was force and motion. This is apart of K.P.1.1 and K.P.1.2 (North Carolina Standards). We learned about what push and pull are and look like. I can push my toy car. I can pull on the rope. I can distinguish the differences between push and pull. Please see our pictures in action below. We are continuing to talk about rules and procedures which makes up our Social Studies unit. We also begin to talk about what it means to be a good citizen and friend. K.C&G1.1: Exemplify positive relationships through fair play and friendship.
Social Emotional Learning: Our morning work circumvented around Social Emotional Learning. We drew pictures about what makes us happy and what what makes our heart thankful. One of our students drew a picture of her and I in rainbow outfits as what makes her heart happy. That made MY teacher heart very happy!
Phonemic Awareness: We continue to navigate rhyming and breaking up compound words. Please work on rhyming words at home. We say "cat..." "bat..." rhyme! And then clap our hands together. We use Heggerty's Phonemic Awareness as a pacing guide for our students. Blending sounds to make words is such an important practice you can also work with your child on at home. These videos model what I am talking about:
Excercise band was sanitized between kiddos :)
