Have a look below at some of my resources for learning and teaching.
When revising, I often find pupils may need some form of scaffold to assist this. I find knowledge organisers give pupils support when making notes and recalling knowledge
Using social media related resources are a great way to engage pupils. This is an example of exit passes I use with my classes. It can be easily edited to assess pupil understanding on the topic being taught or learning taking place.
There is a bit of a play on words, but my marking scheme is 'green to be seen', 'pink to think' and the 'purple polishing pen'. I find using the different colours breaks down the feedback more and makes it easier for pupils to interpret.
After reading 'I wish my teacher knew' by Kyle Schwartz I was inspired to ask pupils what they wanted me to know at the start of the year. I started by doing this on post it notes and asking pupils to finish the statement, however have expanded this task in recent years. This is such a valuable task that helps to build meaningful relationships.
As a Home Economics teacher, I always love linking learning to food. These bookmarks give pupils a mnemonic (custard) to help when answering exam style questions.
Pose, Pause, Pounce & Bounce (PPPB) is a questioning technique used to promote deeper thinking and discussion. This is a technique I use frequently to dig into what pupils know and the depth of this knowledge.
And who doesn't love a link to Disney!
Metacognition is having an awareness and understanding of one's own thought processes so pretty much thinking about thinking! There are numerous ways we can encourage pupils to reflect on their learning and develop a knowledge of how they learn.
