Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework for designing lessons that meet the needs of all learners from the start. It recognises that students learn in different ways and promotes flexibility in teaching and is something I believe strongly in to ensure ALL learners can access learning.
UDL is based on three principles:
Engagement – Different ways to motivate learners
Representation – Different ways to present information
Action & Expression – Different ways for students to show what they know
Technology supports UDL by offering tools like text-to-speech, videos, interactive media, and flexible assessment options, helping remove barriers and increase access for all students.

This lesson design template helps teachers intentionally plan using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. It guides you to consider multiple ways students can engage with content, access information, and demonstrate their understanding. By planning with UDL from the start, you can create inclusive, accessible lessons that support the success of all students.
