Assistant Professor | Principal Investigator
Veronika received her PhD in Biomedical Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where she studied macrophage motility using FRET-based Rho GTPase biosensors with Dianne Cox and Louis Hodgson. She completed her postdoctoral training with Anna Huttenlocher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied innate immunity and wound healing using zebrafish models of inflammation. During her postdoctoral work, she collaborated with Melissa Skala at Morgridge Institute for Research to apply fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy in studying the metabolic regulation of immune cells during tissue repair.
PhD Graduate Student (co-advised by Dr. Raymond Birge)
Samhita received her Bachelor of Pharmacy from Mumbai and went on to get her Master's Degree in Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Medicinal Chemistry at Long Island University. During her time at LIU, she characterized Cisplatin Derivatives using Upper Gastrointestinal cancer models. After graduation, she worked as a Research assistant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and gained experience with Glioblastoma and Lung cancer models. In the Miskolci Lab, Samhita's research focuses on the metabolic regulation of macrophage function during tissue repair.
