In the sculptures we did I learned techniques that lead to my clay creations to not break apart. What I learned is that I quite hate papermache, but clay was better when learned the correct techniques. For clay to make sure it does not break you have to wedge the clay before use to get rid of all of the air bubbles so it does not crack even after it hardens. Wedging is a fun but hard process, which is the first step in making sure that the clay does not crack. The second step is score, slip, and blend the pieces together. This will ensure that the clay layers don't crack.
I liked the clay box the most since I could get the pieces to work well together well in a short amount of time. What I liked the least was the papermache since with making a base with aluminum foil means that the final product will be bigger then the that, which means it is a bit hard to gauge the size of the sculpture. The other problem is it is hard to smooth out the paper in a way that lets it be smooth to the touch without having the paper layers.
