State Bid, Alliance Finalist, Highest Scorer, Design Award winner
Team 13402 competed at three competitions this year, two qualifying competitions and the Indiana state competition! At our first competition, we were the second pick for the number 2 alliance. This proved to be a great competition where we got a high score, leading us to be the number one alternate in the state! At our second qualifying competition, we continued to strive to impress the judges with our teamwork and dedication but did not perform as expected. As a result of being the number one alternate, we still earned a state bid. Lastly, at the state competition we impressed the judges with our lifting mechanism and our game strategy, but most important was our team spirit! All in all, it was a great year for team 13402 and we believe it will be a better one next year.
State Bid, Winning Alliance, Honorable Mention-Outreach
At their first competition, the rookie team was trying to get their feet wet and although they did not perform well, they realized what they needed to fix to be competitive at the next competition and now they knew what to prepare for.
At their second competition, Rosie’s Riveters was part of the winning alliance with the teams WarriorTech and Pixelated. This guaranteed them a bid to the FTC state championships in March. Not only was Rosie's Riveters the only team with a guaranteed bid, but they are also Mishawaka High School’s first all-female robotics team in program history.
Honorable Mention-Design
Team 13401 Ectoflex competed at two qualifying competitions this year. At the first competition, the team had their chance to shine both through the robot competition and the judged presentation. Although the team’s robot didn’t perform like expected they did not let this stop their spirit and the judges saw this perseverance. By the end of the day, the team received an honorable mention for the design award showing that the design was on track and the ideas were there, just not the execution. This season was very much a learning experience for this team and although they didn’t bring home many trophies, the journey was more valuable than the destination.
Alliance Pick, Winning Alliance
Spontaneous Combustion really made an explosion at their two regional qualifiers. At the first competition, they showed how well their team works with others to make an efficient alliance. The team managed to make a very reliant and consistent robot that was a good final round! So great, in fact, they were chosen as a final alliance pick at both competitions. Although the team's final alliances didn't move on to the state competition, they understand what it takes to get onto a final alliance and what they need to do next year to make it to the state competition.
