In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 28-30 October 2025, the Micronutrient Data Innovation Alliance (DInA), a program of the Micronutrient Forum, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Ministry of Industry-Ethiopia; the Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Coordination Mechanism on Food Fortification (ESA RCM) co-chairs—East, Central, and Southern African Health Communities (ECSA HC) and Southern Africa Development Community (SADC); and the RCM secretariat organizations hosted a 3-day Africa regional meeting on large-scale food fortification data.

Organizers:
The event was co-hosted by the governments of Ethiopia and Italy in collaboration with the United Nations under the framework of the UN Food Systems Summit +4 Stocktake.
Overview:
The summit brought together global leaders, policymakers, researchers, development partners, and private-sector stakeholders to assess progress since the 2021 global food systems agenda and to accelerate the transformation toward sustainable, inclusive, and resilient food systems aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
As part of the engagement activities, I contributed to the event organization with colleagues from the Institute of Ethiopian Standards (IES). Our team received and guided international delegates during their tour of Ethiopia’s national quality infrastructure (NQI) facilities, recently called the "Quality Village" at IES, where we introduced the role of national standards and quality assurance systems in supporting safe, innovative, and sustainable food systems. My role included supporting event coordination, facilitating delegate visits, producing high quality grapical tools and contributing to the overall organization of the engagement activities hosted by IES.

Overview:
The national celebration of World Food Safety Day in 2025 brought together regulators, industry representatives, researchers, and development partners to highlight the critical role of science-based approaches in ensuring safe food for all. The event served as a platform to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders involved in food safety governance and awareness creation.
During the event, I contributed to the organization and coordination activities supporting the National Codex Committee. My role included assisting with event organization and preparing high-quality graphic and communication materials used during the celebration, helping enhance the visibility and impact of the food safety awareness campaign.
