Mira Catalina 2nd grade - E-learning Help

The sudden leap into E-learning this year has provided a lot of challenges for our Mira Catalina Families. Our second grade teachers are prepared to support our second grade families. The following are some tips to best support your Mira Cat Learner.

Set up a daily family routine, including healthy eating and sleeping habits.
set up a designated work space
get to know the online platform (PLP and google classroom)
Stay in communication with your students teacher
model hard work and persistence (we all get stuck from time to time.)

This video shows the basic use of Google classroom. It shows how to find, complete, and submit assignments.

This is a video providing support for Guardian email summaries. Your child's teacher will send you an invitation to receive guardian email summaries. This explains what it is and the access you as a parent will have to google classroom.

Are your children having a hard time typing? There is a feature of speech to text on Chromebooks. Here is a video of how you do it on a chrome book.

If you are using a Mac OS: Press the fn button twice and it will allow talk to text.

If you are using Windows: press the windows button and H. (make sure the mic is accessible in settings prior)

Submitting assignments

This video shows how to submit assignments on google classroom. The multi step process can prove difficult for our students in the beginning of our google classroom journey. Always check to see if the assignment was submitted by checking back in classwork. (you can submit using phones, ipads, desktops, chromebooks, and laptops)
