Overview
Due to COVID-19, home workout is gaining attention, but sport equipment is required for an efficient workout. However, most of the equipment is expensive, bulky and un-cozy for a home interior. Thus, we proposed a pull-up bar for a single household who has a small living space, but still wants to exercise alone at their place. Pull-up is an effective and common workout for a balanced back and arm muscle, but pull-up bar is needed. From an interview with people who bought pull-up bar before, we found that people commonly hung their clothes on the bar when they are not using it. They also wanted an easy installation and enough space to move their body. Based on the room furniture placement of a single household and a market research of a pull-up bar, we defined that the door-way is the most suitable installation position, and screwing is the safest installation method. The bar consists of a steel core for a strength and the outside is covered in a Sprice wood, and the fixed part on the wall is shaped like a deer antler, considering the safety and the home-fitted design. From the requirement list and mathematical calculation of a vertical and shear stress, we designed the specific size. The fixed part on the wall and the bar can be easily separated, and to prevent an accident from the bar rotating while using it, the cross section is not fully rounded.
