Online Poetry and Prose Contest
Date: 2nd to 8th November 2021
Being the first event of the academic year focusing on creative writing, we tried provoking students to put their thoughts and emotions into words in the form of poems and prose. As a result, we saw several compelling and thought-provoking beautifully composed entries.
Potterhead Championship
Date: 13th December 2021
In celebration of 20 glorious years of the first Harry Potter movie, we held a Harry Potter-themed quiz championship. The event was made sure to be interactive by having Open Mics and discussions on various Harry-Potter experiences and versions. Several Potterheads and enthusiasts joined us and made the event a successful one.
Same Plot New Character
Date: 10th to 16th January 2021
A writing contest in which the participants had to add a new character to the plot of an existing movie. The list of characters and movies which can be used were mentioned. The entry is judged based on creativity and grammatical coherence.
LitQuiz
Date: 19th January 2021
A general literature quiz to test the knowledge of books, movies, TV shows, etc to help them stay connected with all the greatest works of literature.
Webinar and Quiz on Historical Places in Karnataka
Date: 14th August, 2020
The first event of the academic year was a collaboration with the Kannada Club, CMRIT and EBSB Club which aimed at educating the students of CMRIT as well as the students from the guest state of Uttarakhand about the many wonders of the state we live in. Participants were quizzed on the information provided and winners were appreciated.
Online Poetry Contest
Date: 23rd to 30th August, 2020
This event aimed at getting to know of talented individuals and displaying their work. Students and faculty alike submitted several imaginative poems with eloquent words strung together beautifully. Winners and honourable mentions were appreciated and their poems were displayed on the club Instagram page.
Online Prose Contest
Date: 1st to 8th September, 2020
The participants were asked to submit their musings in the form of prose. There was no theme or word limit, so participants were free to express their feelings in English, Hindi and Kannada. We received some well articulated pieces on a diverse range of topics.
Online Literature Quiz
Date: 19th to 26th September, 2020
Participants were tested on their knowledge of general literature, classics, TV shows, pop culture, Indian literature etc to help them stay connected with all aspects of literature from the past and present.
Seven Word Tales
Date: 9th to 16th October, 2020
Participants had to narrate an entire story in exactly seven words. We received an overwhelming response with some of the wittiest, most cleverly concocted and heartbreaking stories that our students had written.
Mad Libs
Date: 9th to 16th November, 2020
The students were given three prompts, of which they could choose any one and weave a short story from it. All genres were allowed and that resulted in some very creative stories with amazing twists.
Game Zone
Date: 27th February, 2020
A fun event which students participated in a lot of games and activities organised by our club members.
Online Prose Contest
Date: 30th March to 6th April, 2020
An online event that was conducted during lockdown providing the students an opportunity to put their thoughts, emotions and imagination into words in the form of prose. Several compelling and thought-provoking entries were received.
Online Poetry Contest
Date: 1st April to 10th April, 2020
Students were asked to send in their musings in the form of poetry during the lockdown period, to encourage productivity and to channel their emotions. As a result, we saw some of the most beautifully composed and heartfelt renditions that our talented participants had written.
Online Literature Quiz
Date: 15th to 20th April, 2020
We conducted a 10-minute-long online quiz that tested students’ fandom knowledge of their favourite books, shows, culture and history and the top scorers were awarded with special mentions.
Online Story Contest
Date: 20th to 25th April, 2020
An online story writing competition was conducted in which the students were given a minimum of 6 subjects and they had to write a story about it in a descriptive or expository style. Many creative stories were received, which we absolutely enjoyed reading.
Online Script Writing Contest
Date: 25th to 30th April, 2020
The Literary Club collaborated with the Theatre Club for a Script Writing Contest in which the participants had to create an eloquently articulated script with metaphors and figures of speech.
Online Blurb Writing Contest
Date: 2nd to 12th May, 2020
The participants were required to write a short description of any book within the word limit of 150 words. Many witty and well written blurbs were received.
Online Prose and Poetry Competition
Date: 16th to 23rd August 2019
The first online event of the academic year where students competed with beautifully composed thoughts presented in the form of prose and poetry. Mechanical Poets Quiz
Date: 23rd of August 2019
Students were invited to compete and claim the crown of being the most knowledgeable. They were given a plethora of questions on a variety of genres which included and were not limited to TV shows, books, movies and writers. The room was charged with healthy competition and joyful shouts of victory.
Essay writing Contest

The Guru Kalam Memorial Essay Writing Competition was a contest which pitted the work of one student with another on the topic "My India in 2040". The participants blew our minds with their unique perspectives on how they envisioned our country in the future. The winner was felicitated at the 4th Guru Kalam speech held at the prestigious Taj Vivanta.
Open Mic
Date: 21st September 2019
Students and faculty were invited to connect with each other by sharing their experiences and compositions. They presented memorable poems, life experiences, humorous presentations and melodies among that kept the audience spellbound.
Group Discussion
Date: 30th of September 2019
The Debating society of the literary club held its first event of the semester in the form of a group discussion to inculcate in the students of CMRIT the skill and the knowledge required for debating. The event gave students the opportunity to present their thoughts in an insightful manner.
Jam session

The Debating society of the Literary club held its second event of the semester in which students challenged each other on the basis of verbal prowess. The event was fast paced and filled with wit and humour, while tackling sensitive and relevant issues.
The Literary Club hosted two events as part of Aura ‘19. The 2V2 debate provided for a perfect opportunity for the participants to hone their argumentative skills while Creative Writing was an amazing event that brought out the writer in many of our participants.

BIBLIONOVA (18 HR READATHON)
Date: 2nd to 3rd November, 2019
BIBLIONOVA was an 18-hour long readathon which the Literary Club conducted on 2 nd November. The event was the first of its kind in Bangalore. With more than 150 physical books, our curated library was any bookworm’s dream come true! The participants could pick out any book they like and read their hearts out during the whole event. Not only that, a lot of extra fun activities were included, we had Open Mics, Quizzes, even a movie screening! There were snacks and meals handed out to keep everyone refreshed throughout the whole event. We also had people coming over from different colleges. The event was a success, with everyone finding the literati in them and geeking out with fellow bibliophiles.
