Mind Matters Now is dedicated to empowering individuals to challenge negative self-talk and fostering self-worth in the digital age. We prioritize education and community engagement to help our peers build a healthy relationship with social media.
Here, we believe that small actions can lead to big change. Our content is created to jumpstart our peers' stronger and improved well-being by focusing on little, yet effective practices and offering words of affirmation.
Our three core values that guide our campaign:
Hope - Better things are to come, and struggles do not define one's future.
Self-love - You have always been enough and deserve positivity and kindness.
Educate - Awareness is the first step, understanding and identifying mental health works to break the stigma and empower growth.
Mrs. Medendorp is a counselor at our school who supports all grades. She assisted our campaign in so many ways and provided us with lots of ideas on how to spread awareness regarding mental health around our school. In addition, she introduced us to social media effects on mental health that sparked our determination to discuss the topics and risk and protective factors that our campaign was based off of.
Her experience with kids allowed her to offer valuable insights on how to effectively engage students, as well as improving our strategies of outreach to make them more impactful and more age-appropriate.
Akshaya Gadamsetty, Freshman at Henry M. Jackson High School: "Minds Matter Now is a wonderful HOSA project which truly impacts students minds positively. It allows improvement in many different categories regarding mental health and self degradation; however, these frequently seen problems can be solved with their motivaitonal words and tips that they provide. They are a great help to the fellow teenagers out there to get out of their slump and reach their fullest potential."
