About me:
Namaste!
Hi! I'm a mountains & river girl at heart. I love where I live. There's just something about the land here that makes me feel like I'm home, I'm safe & I'm connected. It's my happy place!
I grew up here in Myrtleford, on Waveroo country. I left after school to travel, explore, live, learn, then years later I was drawn back. I was ready to live a simpler life again. In the country, with the fresh mountain air and the crystal clear rivers, surrounded by nature, and close to my family.
I found my love for yoga 18 years ago when I was living abroad. It sparked something in me from the very first class I ever went to. My yoga practice (all the 8 limbs!) is a big part of my life, it means a lot to me, and it helps me through lifes challenges each and every day. And I can't speak for anyone else, but for me the effects have only been positive. It's the combination of all the 'limbs' of yoga, that I love. It helps bring me inner peace and it fills my heart with love & joy. It helps me stay grounded, balanced & grateful!
I've been teaching yoga now for almost 10 years. I am trained in teaching yoga, meditation, breathwork, and yoga for kids and teens. I teach weekly group classes at my studio, I visit clients for private one-on-one sessions, inclduing yoga therapy for individuals with specific needs, I teach yoga to children at local schools and sporting clubs, and I offer private sessions for groups such as workplace wellness days, girls/guys weekends away etc.
Teaching yoga makes me happy. I am grateful everyday xxx
What I love about yoga
It's holistic - it's great for body, mind & soul
It reminds me that a healthy spine = a happy life!
It reminds be conscious of my breath, to extend and control prana - the life force
It reminds me to get out of my 'head space' and drop back into my 'heart space'.
It reminds me to detach from attachments.
It reminds me peace is already within us
It reminds me to connect with source above and below
It reminds me to quiet the mental chatter, to create space & stillness
It reminds me to love unconditionally
It reminds me to be grateful
It reminds me to be present. To let go. And to trust.
It's my escape from the fast pace of life to connect with my inner peace.
I am eternally grateful for all the great yogis and yoginis before me who have been passing down these practices for over 5000 years.

About: the style of yoga I teach
Dru ~ stillness / inner still point
I teach a gentle and graceful form of yoga, yet the effects are powerful and potent.
With its foundations set firmly in ancient yogic tradition Dru yoga works on body, mind and spirit to rejuvenate your whole being. It has its roots in hatha yoga & follows the principles of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
It's a heart focused yoga, graceful, yet potent, suitable for all bodies, flowing, combination of breath and movements, holistic approach, no ego, inclusive, non-competitive
Classes can include yoga asanas (postures), pranayama (the science of the breath), mudras (hand gestures), positive affirmations, empowering visualisations, powerful sequences, relaxation and meditation performed in a flowing & dynamic style.
I work alongside modern day injuries ...
Injuries and illnesses are very common in our society today, so being able to offer modified poses ensures every student feels safe, comfortable and supported allowing them to safely progress through their yoga journey.
We live in the western world. We (unfortunately) are not raised with yoga as part of our lives like many Eastern countries where they are introduced to yoga as young children. We need to show respect, kindness and patience to ourselves and our bodies and allow time to develop your practice gradually.
We learn to make modifications and variations to warm ups, stretches, postures, breath work, sequences, sitting positions etc. so each student can practice safely. Big changes can happen physically, emotionally and spiritually as your yoga practice develops. Feeling comfortable and supported is important.
Classes are designed to begin upbeat, fun, loosening up, stretching, and then progresses to sequences/postures to strengthen the core, spine and physical body, followed by breath work to calm and relax the nervous system, body and mind, then we finish with a guided deep relaxation to seal in all the work done, and settle into a place of inner stillness for just a well deserved rest peace and calm.
You will leave a class feeling calmer and more relaxed, yet at the same time you will have more energy, and increased awareness and concentration.
