ABOUT
Milton Academy facilitates private music instruction (click for sign up) to provide individualized instruction for voice, winds, brass, and string, guitar, and drums/percussion instruments. Private music teachers hail from a variety of backgrounds, including classical, jazz, and pop style performances.
Music teachers are identified by the Academy’s music department and have background checks on file. Click here for teacher bios.
Session I Music lessons begin in October and end in January. Session II will begin in February, and continue through the end of the school year.
We offer twelve-lesson packages each semester, and lessons may be 60, 45, or 30 minutes. Lessons are generally scheduled after school but may also be scheduled during the school day depending on a student’s schedule. As such, lessons are arranged individually by the teachers and students based on mutual availability. A six-lesson package may be requested in cases of scheduling incompatibility, but is at the discretion of the lesson instructor. For more information about six-lesson packages, please contact Eric Goode (Eric_goode@milton.edu). Financial aid for private music lessons is available to all students who receive financial aid for tuition.
For Middle School students, 30-minute lessons may be requested instead of 45-minute lessons. 45-minute lessons are encouraged for students in Middle School and above to ensure proper instruction time for meaningful progression each semester.
For Lower School students, 30-minute lessons are encouraged.
Please note that lesson availability and teacher selection is not guaranteed. In the event that a lesson time slot cannot be identified for a registered student, the billing office will credit the student’s account for the full amount charged.
ENROLLMENT
Students can only register via this online form.
NOTICE: Students registered for Session I will automatically be enrolled for Session II unless parents opt out by December 15th. An email to all enrolled families will be sent out in early November and action must be taken to avoid automatic enrollment in and a charge for Session II. Once session enrollment deadlines have passed, no refunds will be issued as Milton Academy contracts with teachers based on enrollment.
MAKE-UP LESSONS
Teachers are obligated to make up lessons only when lessons are missed due to the teacher’s schedule. No refunds will be issued.
