Jools took a break from Panic Zero during the summer of 1989. We halfheartedly looked for another drummer and carried on rehearsing at Loggerheads. We recorded one session - 09 July, and a couple of those tracks made it onto the Loggerheads disk, but not onto the Panic Zero album. Steve had just bought himself an electric guitar and Rob's old band-mate Ian Griffiths also joined us. That gave us four guitarists and a bassist. Jools rejoined us the next week when we recorded the Panic Zero demos.
09/07/1989 - 19 takes on tape MT62A/B.
We were struggling to add any new songs to the Panic Zero set, so Rob, Steve and myself got together over the Christmas holiday to try and come up with something different. We managed to record a few tracks in a friend's kitchen but the next Panic Zero session proved to be our last. I needed a break.

Rob, Steve and myself started rehearsing at PIJ studios in King Square during January and February 1990. We recorded five sessions, trying out a lot of new songs. There's no decent takes amongst the lot but there are some nice bits here and there.

Meanwhile at PIJ, we were joined in March 1990 by Ian Griffiths on a regular basis. He was planning on setting up his own band, but sat in with us adding his atmospheric guitar to the sound. We recorded six sessions during March and April. At the end of May, Ian brought in a drummer who he wanted to join his band ...
