Another Craigslist purchase. I ended up getting this non-working for $460. Right off the bat I needed a CPU board as it was missing. Cosmetically this thing is in pretty good shape. The playfield is nice and all plastics are in one piece.
I was getting nowhere on my own, and after seeing rave reviews from Todd at TNT Amusements, I decided to send this to Fredd Shwemmer (GottliebPinball on YouTube) for repair work. Boards are on the way back but turnaround was extremely quick; all in all it will be a week since I sent, he repaired, and I receive them back. WOW!!!
Here are his comments from the video.
A HOLY S**T BOARD!!! Or Boards.....
This is the typical damage one runs into when pulling connectors from the MPU when POWERED ON!!!!!
A total disaster and overhaul, but fair is fair. The price on repair is set on flat fee.
Sometimes I win and sometimes I lose.
This time it was a loss but not really, as I went I discovered some very interesting things which will help me in the future with other repairs.
But man, man, man, man......
Half the MPU board was fried; the EPROM image was damaged, the 5101 RAM was toasted, a 6532 was blown, the switch matrix was gone, ALL display digits and segment drivers were totally gone.
The driver board had multiple fried transistors. (Not KFC fried unfortunately.) Missing hardware and the interconnect harness was modified with 2 extra wires for mechanical support and electrical improvement.
Cheers Mike!!!! Have fun, runs like a charm again.
Here are his videos detailing what was wrong and showing a working MPU and driver boardset.
