My name is Mike, I’m a Game Developer from London.
I'm teaching myself game development and working on building my skills for my first job in the industry.
In 2024 I took a series of short courses including Game Development at Playback Studios and Indie Game Academy's IGA Level 1 course.
I've completed two of Into Games' Sprints, 'Create Robust QA Testing Frameworks with David Jenkins' and 'Master the Recipe for Level Design with Oliver William Walker'.
Currently I'm learning from the GDQuest website and community, going through their interactive course on Godot's programming language Learn to Code From Zero with Godot and trying my first project with their tutorial Create Your First 2D Game From Zero with Godot 4.
I’m interested in making games that reflect a wide range of voices and views. I am mixed race and from a very culturally diverse area which I don't feel is represented in games or in studios. This includes accessibility needs, race, gender and identity. I believe games should be for everyone and I want to do my part to make that a reality.
I'm curious about designing games and levels which focus more on exploration and adventure than combat and physical conflict. I am always checking every nook and cranny in a level and want to expand that sense of discovery for other players.
In my free time I like to watch and play D&D and would love to play more, travelling (when I can afford it) to places like Iceland and Norway and chase after my adorable dog Jester.
Some of my favourite games include:
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Sea of Stars, Divinity Original Sin 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and the Like a Dragon franchise.
