Some of the largest challenges organizations face today are related to their capacity: the ability to create public value by delivering on development objectives.
However, an organization can improve its ability to reach its goals by utilizing capacity development methods and tools to (1) identify which areas can be improved, and (2) take action to improve them.
Through this site, we will go over the Five Core Capabilities that contribute to the overall capacity of an organization. You will also be provided with two techniques that correspond with each core capacity as a starting point for your organization to take action.
The techniques outlined on this website are used as examples and are meant to be adapted to your organization’s specific needs. You may also choose to use the provided techniques as a guide to create your own new technique or to implement another technique that is relevant to the specific core capacity your organization would like to develop.
The purpose of this website is to help an organization develop its capacity, increase its effectiveness and improve its outcomes. By using the information in this manual, an organization will be better equipped to face a broad array of challenges. Please Note: The techniques and frameworks outlined in this manual are used as examples and are meant to be adapted to an organization’s specific needs.
In order to better utilize this manual, a practitioner should ask the following questions:
What should our organization do to ensure that it is relevant, and what must we do to maintain its relevance?
