The Arctic Master Angler Certificate:
Highlighting the unique and challenging sport fish species of Northern Alaska (and the Arctic region in general) and recognizing the achievements of accomplished fly fishers
Catch-and-release with fly rod and fly gear 5 of the 6 species shown in the images below during the course of one calendar year
Terms:
• Catch and release 5 of the possible 6 species of any size
• Catches must occur within Alaska or Canada during one calendar year
• At least one catch must have occurred above the Arctic Circle
• At least 4 catches must have occurred north of 63 degrees latitude
• Fish must be released unharmed
• ADFG fishing regulations must be followed, any illegal or unethical activities in association with catches
will disqualify application. Check regulations and emergency orders carefully.
• Junior Slam (under 16): Catch 4 of the species during one year or 5 of the species over two years
Recognition
• Certificate of achievement in frame, mailed or presented in-person to angler at MSFC meetings
• Free 1-year membership to MSFC + SWAG
• Featured photo collage on MSFC social media and website for 1 month (if desired)
• Recognition via MSFC social media posts, club email, and bragging board at local fly shop

• Fully complete application at link at the bottom of this page
• Photos of each catch required, showing angling method, surrounding landscape, and identifying
morphology to extent reasonable
• Witness name and contact email are required for each catch. Solo catches will require additional
verification from angler.
• Activities or reports of unethical or illegal behavior will result in disqualification at discretion of MSFC
officers
• No bait or treble hooks allowed. Flies and fly rod catches only. Use of beads is OK
Notes
• Participation in program authorizes MSFC to use photos submitted by the angler (with credit to
photographer) for promotional purposes
• Catch locations will be kept secret/vague to protect fishing spots. Descriptors such as “North Slope”,
“Alaska Range”, or “Nome Area” will be published
• Review of applications will be kept confidential by the MSFC officers, to protect the fishing spots of
applicants. Misuse of information or locations entrusted to MSFC officers will not be tolerated and will
result in dismissal of offending officers.
