Mid Dorset Mencap is a dedicated charity supporting individuals with learning disabilities across Mid Dorset. Our mission is to champion their rights and needs, ensuring access to care, education, and opportunities that help them reach their full potential.

We offer vital support to individuals, families, and carers through advocacy, resources, and inclusive activities. By fostering community partnerships, promoting awareness, and creating accessible programmes, we work towards a society where everyone can thrive.

Our charity shop is at the heart of our efforts, providing a welcoming space for all. It offers great value and meaningful opportunities for skills development, volunteering, and social inclusion. Together, we aim to enrich lives, strengthen families, and build an inclusive community for all.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Sarah as our manager here at Mid Dorset Mencap. Sarah joined us in 2023, initially as a volunteer, and quickly made a lasting impression through her dedication and care for our community.

Her passion and expertise soon led her to take on a broader role overseeing the shop, and since then, she has completely transformed the space. The shop is almost unrecognisable compared to two years ago—thanks to Sarah’s vision, hard work, and commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Sarah’s leadership, organisational skills, and positive energy have been instrumental in driving the improvements we’ve seen across the charity. We’re proud to have her guiding our team and shaping the future of Mid Dorset Mencap.
