Middle Park Mountain Bike Club
What you need to participate: If you need help getting any of the items our team partner Beavers Sports Shop or any other local shop can help you find it.
- A desire to become a better mountain biker.
- A mountain bike that fits you (if you don't have bike we have supporters who can help you get a bike)
- A helmet that fits you (the one that's been laying around in the garage for a couple years probably isn't safe anymore. )
- Biking gloves (when you're riding mountain bikes you're going to crash. Gloves do a lot to protect your hands)
- Water bottle or hydration pack (hydration packs are nice to carry some other important thing on the the trail)
- Extra tube that fits your bike (While mountain biking it's common that you will get a flat tire. We'll teach you how to fix it.)
- Simple tools to fix a flat tire Tire levelers and pump.
Also recommended
- Riding shorts
- Biking shoes (biking shoes have a good sole that help you feet stay on the pedals)
- Sunglasses/eye protection (we get a lot of sunny days in Colorado and there is a lot of debris on the the trail that can fly up into you eyes)
The club will have 8 preseason meetings that are outlined in the team calendar in June and July. The regular season begins August 1st and allows us to meet for practices three days per week. High School riders can participate at any skill level. High School riders are encouraged to progress in their skill to a level where they can race in the Colorado Cycling League.
- Riders will participate in large and small group training exercises.
- Coaches and ride leaders will break up with the different ability groups
Minimum
- Team fee $100 (covers coaching/instruction and organizational expenses)
- NICA Registration $65 (covers insurance for participants)
Additional
- Jersey $35
- Race Fees $60/race
- Travel and meals at races
The Middle School riders will ride with the High School riders in groups based on ability. The club will have 8 preseason meetings which are outlined in the team calendar in June and July. The regular season begins August 1st and allows us to meet for practices three days per week. Middle School riders are encouraged to join at any ability level, but the league does not have a racing division for Middle School riders. Middle School riders are encouraged to progress in their skill level to participate in races while they are in High School if they choose to do so.
