We investigate metal solidification to understand microstructural evolution and enhance material performance. Our research combines lab-based casting methods, synchrotron-based techniques (e.g., in situ radiography and tomography), and advanced computer vision to enable quantitative characterization and a comprehensive understanding of the solidification process. Ultimately, we aim to design favorable microstructures for recycled structural materials.
