Specific objectives:
One of the first objectives is to deploy five distinct prospection/fieldwork campaigns in the
first four months and the fifteenth month of the grant in order to sample the carbonate deposits
at a resolution of 0.5 m.
The second objective is represented by the development of a detailed sedimentological and
sequence stratigraphic model for the Upper Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous carbonate succession,
in months 10-14 and 19-21, on the basis of 800 samples collected from the field area.
The third objective consists in creating a biostratigraphic model by describing a finite number
of micropaleontological associations (with algae, foraminifera and calpionellids) that
characterise the Upper Jurassic (Oxfordian-Tithonian) and the Lower Cretaceous (Berriasian)
stages.
The fourth objective consists in defining a chemostratigraphic model, in months 19-21 by
interpreting carbon and oxygen isotope analysis results on 200 samples.
