Lodestar Le Corbusier, 2024
Sculptural installation developed on location in Sainte Marie de La Tourette Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site by Le Corbusier, during a immersive residency led by international artists.
While living along-side the resident Dominican order, work was made incorporating a tactile exploration of the environment which was a core element that led to the site-responsive sculptural installation in my monastic cell.
Themes that influenced the work include the theatrical nature of important rituals, the extension of self into a surrounding space and the projection of the mind that results in apparitions.
From my perspective, there was a very rewarding interactive aspect of the installation when viewers 'discovered' or became aware of the sculptures, as they were not immediately apparent on the walls upon entering the cell.
