Q: How long has Ms. Michele been a teacher, and where did she get her degree?
A: I have been a teacher since the fall of 2024, and I graduated from Arkansas State University. Go Red Wolves!
Q: How long does it take for Ms. Michele to answer her email?
A: It depends. I tend to answer most of my emails when I first get to school in the morning, when I am at my desk during a break or my planning period, and/or before I leave the building. I always try to avoid answering them when I need to be focused on my students. If you email after school hours, or on the weekends, please allow a little more time because I am not always near my computers.
Q: What should I do if my student is going to miss school?
A: If you know that your student will be missing from school please let me know ahead of time. If you give me a notice I can give them assignments to do so they won't fall behind. If your student is sick and is going to miss a day or two, let me know. I worry about my students, and an email, or text on ClassDojo, is an easy way for me to make sure they are okay, and be prepared to help them catch up on missing work.
Q: Why did Ms. Michele become a teacher?
A: I became a teacher because I got the opportunity my Senior year of High School to mentor students in an elementary school classroom and feel in love with helping them.
Q: What standards are used in the classroom?
A: We use the Arkansas Academic Standards given to us by the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education
Q: What is the main type of teaching strategy used in the classroom?
A: I use a variety of teaching strategies depending on which is most appropriate. I try to always add a level of hands-on learning and try to make learning more fun.
Q: What do I do if my student is failing?
A: I do not believe in the failure of students and always give small ways to get extra credit. My first suggestion is to email me, and see why your child has a bad grade. More than likely it is because they haven't turned in their assignments, therefore I have nothing to grade. Late work is accepted, but not for full credit!
Q: What do I do if my child comes home with work and needs help, but I don't understand how to help them?
A: Always feel free to reach out to me. I am happy to send a video of me working out a problem. If that doesn't work I can also help by providing YouTube videos that might help explain it.
Q: How often will my student be on technology?
A: I believe that technology is an amazing way to learn, and in the coming years will be important to have our children understand. However, I still believe in a healthy balance between screen time and real world time. I do not provide exact times, however, they will not be on in all day long.
Q: What do I do if my question isn't here, or wasn't answered?
A: Email me, or use ClassDojo to reach out! I am here for help and will answer any questions you have to the best of my ability.
