Doctoral Positions in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Our research group invites applications for several PhD positions in theoretical physics, starting in the upcoming academic year (application deadline by the university is January 10 - application deadline with me directly is January 7). We explore a broad range of topics in quantum many-body theory, including but not limited to:
Strongly correlated electron systems
Topological phases of matter
Quantum criticality and non-equilibrium dynamics
Numerical and analytical methods for emergent quantum phenomena
What we offer
A stimulating research environment with close mentoring and opportunities for independent theoretical work.
Access to local high-performance computing resources and collaborations with theoretical partners.
Full funding including housing.
A dynamic group culture that welcomes curiosity, careful reasoning, and rigorous thinking.
Your profile
We are looking for candidates who:
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in physics or a closely related field. Holding a Master's degree is a plus.
Have a strong foundation in quantum mechanics and statistical physics; knowledge of many-body theory is a plus.
Enjoy working on challenging theoretical problems that require persistence, creativity, and precision.
Are motivated to contribute to ongoing research projects and to develop their own ideas.
How to apply
Please send a single PDF containing:
A brief statement of research interests and motivation to my email listed on the KFUPM physics faculty website.
CV and transcript(s).
Contact information for two referees.
Applications will be reviewed until January 7 to ensure you can submit official applications by January 10 with my support.
