Miftah in his own words is working in the fascinating world of moiré materials. For his thesis, he studied the effect of pressure on the topological transitions of moiré transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) materials. In his work, he combines both analytical and numerical methods, including density functional theory (DFT). During his free time, he can be found tinkering with his laptop or reading random stuff - as he puts it. Apart from physics, he also enjoys studying Arabic as a language and Fiqh (that is the human understanding of Islamic law - in particular, the Shafi’i madhhab perspective). He says that he likes coffee and cats.
