As the Senior Art Director for Virtuos Xi’an, I led a team of 15 junior artists while collaborating closely with Virtuos Dublin to complete the game. My role involved overseeing the design of modular, interchangeable sections that could be used across numerous rooms, providing flexibility and consistency in the game’s environments. I also took responsibility for the base room designs and the final lighting across all levels.
Additionally, the game featured hundreds of unique story-driven props that dynamically changed throughout gameplay, altering room designs based on in-game events. This added an extra layer of immersion and variety to the player’s experience.
Judas is a gripping narrative-driven first-person shooter developed by Ghost Story Games, led by Bioshock creator Ken Levine. The game draws players into a hauntingly dystopian world, reminiscent of Bioshock‘s deeply immersive environments. Judas explores themes of survival, betrayal, and redemption as the protagonist grapples with moral choices while trying to escape a fractured starship. As players uncover the game’s layers, they’ll experience rich storytelling and strikingly atmospheric visuals, hallmarks of Levine’s style.
Your team played an essential role in finishing the game. By assisting Virtuos Dublin with asset creation and refining the final level’s lighting, you helped bring the game’s world to life with stunning detail and mood. In addition to your technical contributions, you also guided the team on set dressing, ensuring that the environments were not only visually compelling but also deeply immersive. Drawing on the legacy of Bioshock, Judas promises to deliver another unforgettable journey, combining cutting-edge design with the philosophical depth that made the series so iconic.
