Research Fellow, Shinawatra International University
Ex-Professor, Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering, IUT
Member of IEB, ASME, BSME
Dr. Md. Hamidur Rahman, served as a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He joined IUT in 2004 as a Lecturer and have since gained 20 years of experience in academics and research. Over the years, He has taken on various administrative roles, including Head of the MPE Department, Head of the Institute of Energy and Environment, and Provost of the male Halls of Residence.
His expertise lies in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), with practical experience in applying CFD tools across the aerospace industry, transportation industry, and energy and environmental sectors. His research interests focus on Thermo-Fluid applications of CFD, such as gas turbine tip leakage flow, film cooling, aerodynamic braking systems for high-speed vehicles, and environmental simulations like emissions and dispersion from contaminant sources, riverbed erosion, and seawater overtopping.
Dr. Rahman published several peer-reviewed journal articles and technical papers in both national and international journals and has presented research articles at international conferences. Additionally, He serves as a reviewer for well-known international journals and conferences, including ACFM, ASME conferences, and the Journal of Indoor and Built Environment. He is an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and currently serve as the Advisor for the ASME student chapter at IUT. Furthermore, He is also affiliated with the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), and the Bangladesh Society for Mechanical Engineers (BSME).
