Why OIS

Assalamu Alaykum Dear Students,

There are many reasons why the Ottawa Islamic School (OIS) should be the first choice for elementary and highs school students.

We want to hear from you about some reasons and some stories about how OIS has impacted you positively.

Storytelling Guide

Please, share your story on how OIS has had an impact on you. We are excited to be sharing your stories during this upcoming Ramadan insha’a Allah. We are hopeful that by showcasing the impact that OIS has on the lives that it has touched, that people would be encouraged to support OIS’s expansion project. In fact, we have every reason to believe that, as storytelling has proven to be one of the most effective techniques in fundraising. 

Content:

* You can talk about anything related to OIS such as:

- Your classmates, teachers, admin, favourite subjects

- Daily reminders, Friday reminders,

- Ramadan, Eid, the atmosphere, and the Islamic environment

- Lessons, classes, GYM, sports, games, uniform,

- What does OIS mean to you?  You can create a theme and provide details

* Questions to help with formulating what to say

1. How long have you been attending OIS?

2. What are your favourite memories from OIS?

3. How much Quran did you have memorized since attending OIS?

4. How has attending OIS helped you be a better Muslim? If so, how so?

5. Did you ever attend another school? If so, please let us know how it compares with OIS and if anything makes OIS stand out?

6. What would be a final thought you would want to leave others with regarding your experience with OIS?

Structure:

- Describe OIS in words, pictures, art, videos, memes, tableaux, etc.

- You can write a paragraph, poetry, a skit, an article, etc.

- You can write a speech, a monologue, a spoken word, etc.

- You can present your work as a video, infographic, padlet, etc.  

Note:

Presenting your story by video would be our preference as videos are known to be more effective in delivering a message and keeping a viewer's attention. However, if you are not comfortable sharing your story by video, then sharing it by text would be fine.

There will be prizes for the most innovative and creative.
