Microbial Electron Transfer for Wastewater Treatment: Innovative Approaches & Applications
It is our great pleasure to invite you to the conference “Microbial Electron Transfer for waste water treatment: innovative approaches and applications”, which will take place in Cairo, Egypt on 9th & 10th September 2019 at Hilton Hotels and Towers, Heliopolis.
This conference is going to be the first international conference in Africa that covers the topic of microbial electron transfer, its applications in waste water use and re-use. This field is gaining attention and many researchers from Egypt and other African countries are interested to share their work and learn more. We are aiming at researchers who work in the field of applied microbiology, electrochemistry, molecular biology, material science, environmental studies and Information and Communication Technology. This conference is one of the activities of our ongoing project METRIS: Microbial Electron transfer: Research and Innovation for Social Welfare which is funded by the Newton Fund and British Council from UK and the STDF in Egypt. The project’s main objective is to use a Single Chamber Microbial Fuel Cell for treating textile waste water for reuse with a special attention to enhance social welfare, therefore, besides researchers, we will extend the invitation to different stakeholders representing policy makers, NGOs, industrialists and media who will be invited to witness MET’s potentials, limitations and future trends in order to bridge the gap between science in the lab and implementation in our society.
This conference will highlight the latest breakthroughs in microbial electrochemistry research and applications of bioelectrochemical systems, covering topics from fundamentals to scale-up processes, Bioremediation, Resource Recovery and many more and will give an opportunity for Egyptian and African researchers to showcase their work.
The 2-day conference will include 40-min keynote presentations from renowned scientists in the field, 20-min oral presentations, poster sessions and flash presentations. An award will be presented for best poster and best flash presentation. Booths for different funding bodies will be set along with an exhibition for interested companies.
More information about a cultural trip and conference dinner after the conference (location and cost to be shared soon) can be found here.
All the information related to the conference, will be updated on this website regularly, so keep in touch and see you all in Cairo!
