Sarah Waxman

Sarah Waxman is CEO and Founder of METIS Planner. She is a young professional on a mission to share her time management strategies and tools.

Sarah graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University in May of 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences as both a George H Cook Scholar and a General Honors Scholar.

As an undergraduate, Sarah triple majored in Food Science Research, Nutritional Science, and Biology. She was a Resident Assistant/Apartment Assistant for three years, taught two freshman classes, served as president of the Undergraduate Food Science Club, and conducted independent research focusing on the potential use and limitations of food colors as intrinsic luminescent sensors in edible products.

As a graduating college senior, Sarah received the prestigious Rutgers University Chancellor’s Paul Robeson Renaissance Award, given to a student who, “exemplifies excellence and truly embodies a commitment to leadership and involvement on campus and in the community,” the Elizabeth F Stier Scholarship given to one female Food Science undergraduate based on academics and extracurricular involvement, and the Roy DeBoer Award for outstanding female senior at the Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences.

In August 2016, Sarah began working as a food scientist for Mondelēz International in East Hanover, New Jersey. Sarah is continuing to attend Rutgers University part time to pursue her PhD degree in Food Science. In addition to METIS Planner, Sarah also runs Toast2YouCards, a successful etsy shop featuring her beautifully designed punny greeting cards.

Working full time, working on her PhD, and running two side business, Sarah fully utilizes the time management strategies embodied in the METIS Planner!

Harvey Waxman

Harvey, Sarah’s Dad, has been Sarah’s design and business partner for this project since its inception in 2014.

Harvey started his career as a computer scientist with Bell Labs. When he retired in 2014, he was Vice President of Architecture for Avaya, a major telecommunications company. As the Vice President of Architecture, Harvey helped to drive overall end to end cross product architecture. He also chaired the Senior Architect Council that brought together the lead architects from the product development teams, services, research, professional services, and technical sales.

Prior to Avaya, Harvey held technical management positions within the architecture arena at Lucent Technologies, AT&T and Novell, Inc. His responsibilities have covered all phases of product life cycle for large software projects including development, test, integration and forward looking work.

Having led large scale system development projects that included hundreds of R&D staff distributed around the world, Harvey has been able to apply his practical experience with project management, time management, goal setting, task decomposition, and user centered design to the design and marketing of the METIS Planner.

Harvey received a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.

Harvey also holds several patents for both computer architecture and communication systems related inventions.
