Opinion essay: Teaching and Learning in the Language Classroom.
The present assignment consists of an opinion essay about Chapter 11 in Tricia Hedge's book Teaching and Learning in the Language Classroom (2000). The chapter deals with planning and assessing learning, more specifically with classroom assessment. It summarizes different assessment procedures that teachers have as options to evaluate the process of learning.
In the essay, other sources are cited to support the opinion given, and a special emphasis is made on the portfolio as an assessment tool, both for the learner and the instructor. The opinion is accompanied also with some ideas on how to implement the portfolio in the classroom, from a personal perspective.
