The Dance Department has demanding technical dance classes, as well as rewarding exploration and information classes in dance theory. These classes give students the opportunity to learn about dance and its role in the rich fabric and culture of our world. For 40+ years, San Diego Mesa College Dance has cultivated a community of dance artists who are collaborative and multi‐dimensional in their view and knowledge of the dance field.

Scholarship
Mesa Dance offers two annual scholarships to our outstanding students. These scholarships honor and carry forth the integrity and excellence of our dance program.
Jan Ellis Memorial Scholarship: Jan Ellis was the heart and soul of the Mesa College dance program for over thirty years. She had knowledge, experience, and an abundance of love and support for her students and colleagues. Jan’s deep investment in her students gave them the courage and confidence to pursue their dreams.
Nicki Carano Memorial Scholarship: Nicki Carano trained in dance at Mesa College and went on to become a professional dancer and musician, and performed all over the world in musical theater, film, and dance producons. Nicki later was a gied teacher of dance at Mesa College and all over San Diego. This scholarship is in memory of Nicki and her love of dance, music, and performing arts throughout her life.
