Sid Bolon was born on the west side of Chicago on February 5, 1916. His mother died when he was four and his world became very bleak. So to offset his sadness, he began to create his own happiness, using his imagination. When he entered school at age five, he changed his birth name from Selwyn to Sidney and his birth date to February 12th (Lincoln's birthday) so it would fall on a holiday.
He began voraciously reading all of the classics and this inspired him to begin his writings. He wrote poetry and one liner original quotations throughout his life. He has been noted in "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" as having written over 10,000 original quotations. His book, "Quote Your Way to Success" is a magnificent collection of over 400 unique profound and humorous quotations, accompanied by lively cartoon graphics. A sample quotation from the book: "If you worry about missing the boat, remember the Titanic!".
Throughout his life, despite many illnesses, he continued to write and this kept him vibrant until he died at 91.
