Merrill Baum was once told by a professor to write about what she knew when given an essay assignment. The professor encouraged her to expand it into a novel and she did, The Death of a Superwoman, the embellished autobiography of a first generation American woman. It was published by Publish America and re-written in a series of books and self-published. The first in the series is titled The Building Blocks. The second book is titled The Era of slavery. The third book is titled Learning to be Free. The final book in the series is the sequel I Did It! .

This series of books was suggested by several veterinarians to explain the difference between stuffed animals and live animals. It details training, feeding, and general care. Shakespeare tells the life of a cat and Plex tells the life of a dog.

Danny, the Therapy Horse is the story of a therapy horse. It tells of his life before and during his therapy work.

Rhobo the Destroyer is the biography of the first registered Welsh Terrier flyball dog.
