Interested in creating a similar project for an area near you? Please do! Here are some suggestions and steps I took to create this room:

1. I spoke with an interior designer to find the best design for a room.

This included finding ways to convey a certain mood, suggestions for easy to clean furniture, and stylish pieces that worked together

2. I got in touch with my local Department of Human Services.

This step is key as nothing can happen without the approval of this institution. Get involved in foster programs, fundraisers, or simply contact personnel. You can find information about North Carolina Foster Programs on the Become a Foster Parent Page.

3. I found ways to incorporate my own preferences.

To design the room, I spent time looking in second-hand shops, researching online, and asking myself what I would want in such a room. This step aided in creating a more personal feel, giving a more homey vibe.

4. I asked others for help and support.

By getting other people involved, I helped spread awareness about the foster program while getting suggestions on how best to tackle a certain issue I was dealing with. Don't hesitate to ask those around you for help if you are unsure of how next to proceed!
