Maliya was born in Newport, California, in 2006 and raised in the vibrant city of San Diego. She has an older sister, Ayana, and a younger brother, Jivaan. Maliya is passionate about baking desserts, playing flag football, and capturing moments through photography.
Now a freshman at the University of Southern California, she is studying Behavioral Economics and Psychology with a minor in Sports Business and Management on the Pre-Law track.
Outside of school, Maliya is committed to making the most of her time. She enjoys playing with her little cousins, going on walks with her dogs, and of course podcasting!
With a passion for both watching and playing sports, Maliya interned with the San Diego Padres and their fan engagement team, the Pad Squad. During her time there, she connected with professionals in the sports industry and gained a behind the scenes look of what goes into a Padres game.
Maliya is an Assistant Publicist at the JKO Agency, a female-led PR and marketing company. She writes pitches, contacts influencers, and promotes her clients' products through podcasts, blogs, and more.
Interning with Pura Vida was a dream come true for Maliya. She learned from marketing, sales, and finance experts on the importance of running a business. She also had the opportunity to sit in on meetings and a town hall, where she discovered how to overcome brand challenges and even got a sneak peak on future products.
