Hi! My name is Mengyi Wang. I am a Teaching Associate in the Chinese Language Program at Cornell University. I am a language educator and storyteller who sees Chinese teaching as an intercultural journey. For me, language is not only knowledge but also a way of understanding the world. Chinese is not just a language but also a way of seeing the world differently.
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that warm, human-centered education empowers students to develop confidence and courage. In my classroom, students are not simply learners but companions walking alongside me. Authentic communication, a student-centered approach, and intercultural perspectives form the foundation of my teaching philosophy. With empathy and careful observation, I strive to truly understand my students' needs and support them in expanding their cultural and linguistic horizons.
Beyond teaching, I am deeply committed to the idea that genuine human connection grows out of sincerity, depth, and curiosity rather than from roles, labels, or interactions based on utility. I value conversations in which two people meet as whole selves, truly see one another, and listen with respect. When this happens, meaningful understanding becomes possible. This belief guides not only my relationships with students but also how I envision collaboration and community.
Currently, I am exploring ways to integrate student-centered language learning with emerging technologies to develop innovative, inclusive, and interculturally grounded Chinese learning experiences. I welcome thoughtful collaboration with individuals who value sincerity, depth, and genuine human connection rather than surface-level networking or utility-based interactions. If you would like to connect, discuss a project, or explore potential collaboration, please feel free to reach out to me by email. I would be glad to continue the conversation with those who resonate with this vision.
