This Privacy Policy applies to the Memolay mobile application (the “Application”), developed by Tansy Software (“we”, “us”, or “Service Provider”), and distributed as a freemium product. This document explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
a. Authentication Data
If you sign in using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In, we collect authentication-related information via Firebase Authentication, including:
For Google Sign-In: your name, email address, and profile photo (as provided by Google)
For Apple Sign-In: your email address only
A unique Firebase user ID (UID)
Signing in is optional for basic app usage, but is required for:
Syncing subscription across devices
We do not share this information with third parties, and it is used solely for app functionality.
b. Learning Progress and Personalization Data
In the future, the Application may store learning-related data in Firebase Cloud Firestore or Firebase Realtime Database, such as:
Study history
Word familiarity levels
Spaced repetition data
This data helps us provide personalized learning experiences and allow cross-device synchronization.
2. Analytics
We use Amplitude to collect anonymous diagnostic and usage data, such as:
Button clicks and screen navigation events
Session duration and frequency
General device data (e.g., OS version, device model)
Approximate user region (inferred from device locale settings)
To better understand user engagement (e.g., retention), we generate an anonymous internal identifier for each user. This identifier is derived using a one-way hashing algorithm and does not include any personally identifiable information. We do not transmit email addresses, names, or other personal data to our analytics provider.
3. In-App Purchases
The Application uses Google Play Billing and Apple In-App Purchases (IAP) to process purchases, including one-time and subscription-based payments.
All payments are processed securely by Google or Apple. We do not collect or store any payment information.
Firebase Authentication may be used to associate purchases with your account.
You may cancel subscriptions anytime via your Google Play account or Apple App Store account.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled before the billing cycle ends.
4. Data Retention
Authentication and learning progress data stored in Firebase is retained as long as your account remains active.
Amplitude analytics data is retained to analyze usage trends and improve the Application.
You may request deletion of your Firebase account and associated data by contacting us.
5. Opt-Out Options
You can stop data collection by:
Uninstalling the Application
Disabling data collection (e.g., Amplitude) directly in the in-app settings
Note: Once analytics collection is disabled in settings, Amplitude will no longer collect any usage data.
6. Children’s Privacy
This Application is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us immediately at tansy.apps@gmail.com.
