To provide and improve the Service, we collect the following information:

A. Information You Provide to Us

• Account & Profile Data: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and date of birth. To customize your profile, you may also voluntarily provide information such as your gender identity, location, physical attributes (height, weight), a personal biography, hobbies, and lifestyle choices.

• User-Generated Content: The heart of MemeMates is your creativity. We collect all content you generate and upload, including:

  • Memes (images and videos) and their captions.

  • Your personalized Mood Board, created with images and text.

  • Your selected Music Anthem.

  • Content posted to your Stories.

• Communications: We collect the messages you send and receive in chats with your connections and any information you provide when you report another user or contact us for support.

B. Information Collected Automatically

• Activity Data: We collect information about your interactions with the Service, such as memes you like or pass, profiles you view, connection requests, and your activity related to our Streak feature.

• Device & Location Information: We collect standard technical information from your device (e.g., operating system, device model) to ensure the App functions correctly. With your explicit permission, we may also collect your device's geolocation to allow you to optionally tag your memes with a location. You can manage this permission in your device settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Operate and Maintain the Service: Manage your account, display your profile, and operate all core features of the App.

• Facilitate Connections: Enable you to connect with other users through our unique, content-first matching systems (VibeMatch, CommonLike Match, Active Connections).

• Improve the User Experience: Analyze usage data to understand how our community interacts with the app, allowing us to fix bugs and develop new features.

• Ensure Safety and Security: Monitor activity to prevent spam, investigate reports, and enforce our community guidelines.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. Your information is shared only in the following limited circumstances:

• With Other Users: Your public profile information and the content you post are visible to others in the MemeMates community to enable social interaction and connection.

• With Third-Party Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services to help us run the App. These include:

  • Firebase (a Google service): For essential backend infrastructure, including user authentication, database management (Firestore), and file storage (Cloud Storage).

  • Audius, TMDB, and Unsplash APIs: To power the Music Anthem, favorite movies, and Mood Board features, respectively.

• For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

4. Your Rights and Controls

You are in control of your information.

• Access and Update: You can review and edit your profile information at any time within the App's settings.

• Content Deletion: You have the ability to delete the content you have posted.

• Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account at any time from the settings menu.

5. Data Security

We use a combination of technical and administrative security measures to protect your information. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
