Surfguard:
You must have your HLTAID011 unit of competency listed on Surfguard to be eligable for an ART assessment. If you completed your HLTAID011 through SLSSA, you don't need to do anything because SLSSA member education will process this for you.
If you already have your HLTAID011 or have gained the unit of competency through an external provider, use this jotform upload your certificate and SLSSA member education will add it to Surfguard for you.

*Surfguard is the SLSA data system that stores all member information including units of competency, assessments & awards. It's the 'back end' of your Members Area.
Talk to your Chief Instructor. Our SLSSA club member education is run by volunteers which means that we depend on our trainer availability to run courses for members. Please reach out to your club Chief Instructor to confirm that an ART course is running with availability. If there is not an ART course available at your local club, your Chief Instructor can work with you to establish when a course will be available or find a course running nearby.
Complete your HLTAID011. The HLTAID011 is a pre-requisite for the ART. Please read the information above about the HLTAID011. You must have your HLTAID011 unit of competency listed on Surfguard before you can undertake your assessment.
Organise your membership. ART's must be financial members of their SLS club to undergo their ART training and assessment. Each club has different requirements for their membership. You need to make contact with your club to establish fees, pay membership, and provide a WWCC (if required).
Membership fees are paid through the SLS Members Area. If you do not have a members area account, you will need to set one up at: SLS Members Area
*If you are part of a Family account, you must create your own SLS Members Portal account before you commence training. If you are a parent helping a child set up an account, they MUST have their own account and cannot use the family account for their training. This is because their eLearning needs to be attached to their individual account/name, not a family account. You can re-link your child back to your family account the account is set up under the 'Membership' tab in the parent account to maintain any family memberships or discounts at club level.
Set up your ART eLearning. The ART eLearning has 2 components: ART Online Learning + ART Online Theory Assessment. Within your SLS Members Area, you will need to enrol into the 'Advanced Resuscitation Techniques' and the 'ART Online Theory Assessment. Your trainer will prompt you with when they would like you to complete your ART modules and the ART Online Theory assessment.
To enrol into your ART eLearning follow this navigation:
ART eLearning Modules:
Login to Members Area > eLearning > Login to eLearning > Training Library > SLS Emergency Care > Advanced Resuscitation Techniques > Enrol
ART Online Theory Assessment:
Login to Members Area > eLearning > Login to eLearning > Training Library > SLS Emergency Care > ART Online Theory Assessment > Enrol
Once you have enrolled into your ART eLearning it will show in 'My Training' when you return.
Enrol into Advanced Resuscitation Techniques. You will need to enrol yourself into the ART course through aXcelerate.
Enrolment Link: ART Enrolment
Scroll through the list to find your SLS club and click enrol. If you do not have an aXcelerate global account, you will need to create one. *Important: your aXcelerate details are NOT the same as your SLS Members area details - these are 2 different systems.
You will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to enrol into your ART. If you do not have one, you can create one easily at: https://www.usi.gov.au/
If you have a USI but can't find it, you can use the above link to find your USI.
Attend your training & assessment: Once you're completely set up with the steps above, you need to make sure you attend all of your training sessions. Once you have undergone your ART training, you will attend an Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Assessment. This assessment will be undertaken by an external assessor. Your Chief Instructor will give you the details of your SRC assessment.
