Petfest Poster
While Petfest is a crazy, chaotic event filled with the energy of the thousands of pets present, my depiction of the festival shows the adorable aftermath of the fun. You see numerous pets all crowded in together, happy and enjoying the space whilst surrounded by plenty of toys. I wanted something that would evoke that love and care that people have towards their pets, and throughout the design, I included pets both here and gone that I love.
Carmex Social Media Campaign
In collaboration with Carmex's creative team and the brand's guidlies, we were to create a series of social media designs along with a 10 foot wall design to go into one of the headquarters' office spaces. I wanted to design something bright and expressive to fit Carmex, but with a classic vintage-inspired twist. I took inspiration from specifically the 1950's and designed.
The Enchanted Castle Book Cover
Edith Nesbit's The Enchanted Castle from 1907 is a children's fantasy novel focused on three children who go into the woods of England and discover a magical portal that takes them to a mysterious castle. In my visual rendition of the novel i wanted to find ways to play around with the red string they follow to find The Enchanted Castle, the end of which is tied to a magical princess. The string was in a lot of my initial sketches, but in my final rendition is featured as an easter-egg within the maze adorning the edges of the covers. I took inspiration for the colors and the flat and simplistic design from old-school gold-foil fantasy novels.
Frankenstein Book Cover
The cover design for Mary Shelley's 1818 horror science-fiction novel was particularly interesting to create due to the iconography of past iterations. I wanted to include imagery that wasn't the classic nuts and bolts of modern Frankenstein. When reading the novel, I was particularly interested in the body horror of Frankenstein's monster and wanted to incorporate that. In my initial sketches I felt as if the body parts were too cohesive and looked too much like one unit. I used a lot of texture and shadow to make the sections of type more dimensional, worn, and twisted.
